DeMaurice F. Smith is a business innovator, trial lawyer, and former Executive Director of the NFL Players Association, where he served from 2009 to 2023. During his tenure, he negotiated two long-term labor agreements with the NFL, delivering more than $100 billion in value to players and establishing industry-leading standards in health, safety and career transition.

Smith previously served as a partner at Latham & Watkins and Patton Boggs and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia. He is a founding partner of OneTeam Partners and the author of the book Turf Wars: The Fight for America’s Game. A frequent speaker and commentator on sports, business and law, he has lectured at leading business and law schools and appeared across major national media outlets.
