Clarissa S. Beyah

Professor of Professional Practice of Journalism

Clarissa Beyah is a communications executive, educator, and nonprofit founder. Currently a professor of professional practice of journalism at USC Annenberg, she helps leaders, students, and organizations use strategic communications to transcend.

In a corporate career spanning more than 30 years, Beyah led communication organizations at some of the world’s largest companies with teams on nearly every continent. Her expertise spans professional services, healthcare, finance, technology, transportation and utilities sectors. Beyah has held top communication executive roles at GE, Aon, Exelon, Pfizer, Bayer, Union Pacific and Northwestern Mutual. As a chief advisor for Fortune 50 companies, she has led communication strategies for international infrastructure deals, mega mergers and acquisitions, data security crisis, workforce restructurings, labor union disputes and significant change management issues. Her expertise spans media relations, marketing, customer, client and employee communications.

Beyah is also founder of the Writer’s Block Ink, Incorporated (www.writersblockink.org) – a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating and launching diverse young leaders using the arts. Since its inception 25 years ago the Writer’s Block has helped more than 1,000 at-risk youth use the arts to transform their lives.
